Adding your investments in companies that are not currently shown in your portfolio
As an investor, it is important to track all of your investments in one place. Companies which have signed up to use Capdesk will automatically populate your portfolio for you but for those companies who are not signed up to use Capdesk, you are able to manually record those investments so that all holdings are stored and tracked in a centralised hub.
To add an investment, click on 'Add Investment' which is found on the 'Portfolio' page (click the Capdesk logo on the top left-hand side).
You can add investments as a:
- Personal investor: Your own personal investments you have made under your name.
- Investor through a holding company on Capdesk: Investments you have made under a holding company and the holding company is registered on Capdesk.
- Investor through a holding company not yet on Capdesk: Investments you have made under a holding company and the holding company is not registered on Capdesk.
For those investments that you have personally invested in (under your name), choose your name from the 'Invest as' drop-down menu, and then click on 'Next'.
Now, select the country in which your investment company is based, and enter its registration number under the relevant field. When you are ready, click on 'Next'.
At this point, you will be able to add the rest of the details of your investment. When you are done, click 'Finish'.
2. How to add investments through a holding company on Capdesk
If you have made an investment through a holding company and the holding company is signed up to Capdesk, similar to adding a personal investment. Follow the same steps outlined above but select the holding company rather than your own name from the "Invest as" drop-down menu.
3. How to add investments through a holding company not registered on Capdesk
If you have made an investment through a holding company and the holding company is not signed up to Capdesk, leave the 'Invest as' drop-down menu blank, and click 'Exit and Register Holding Company' at the bottom instead.
This will bring you to the following page, where you can create and edit the details of the holding company. When you are done, click 'Create company'.
After creating the company, you will be directed back to the "Invest as" drop-down menu where you can simply follow the same steps suggested in sections 1 and 2.
Once the investment has been registered, you will be able to find it under 'Current Holdings' in your portfolio.
You will notice that the investment is in black font colour, this means that the company you have invested in is not signed up to Capdesk (you can also see this in the last column 'On Capdesk?').
