Cannot Open Report / Export Download

Occasionally using certain browsers, downloading your exports from Capdesk will produce a download that is in ".zip" format and not ".xlsx" so you are not able to open in a usable condition. This article outlines how to correct this.

Window Users

If you are using a PC the same should work. However sometimes Windows users will find the extension missing from the file name. 

First, you must make your extensions visible. Find the folder named "File explorer Options" Go to the "View Tab" and uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types', then click apply and OK.


Now you'll see the extension as part of the file name, find the .zip file and change the extension at the end of the file name to .xlsx and you should be able to open the file.

Mac Users

The simplest solution for mac users is to rename your download. When your download appears as a .zip file, you can rename the file at the end from '.zip' to '.xlsx' this is changing its extension.
